Extraorindary Machine

Extraorindary Machine
Colored pencil, marker, crayon

notice that my opponent is always on the go and
Won’t go slow, so’s not to focus, and I notice
He’ll hitch a ride with any guide, as long as
They go fast from whence he came
But he’s no good at being uncomfortable, so
He can’t stop staying exactly the same
-Fiona Apple “Extraordinary Machine”

Have to Drive

Pen & Ink

I have to drive
I have my reasons, dear
It’s cold outside
I hate the seasons here

I suffer mornings most of all
I feel so powerless and small
By 10 o’clock I’m back in bed
Fighting the jury in my head
-Amanda Palmer “Have to Drive”

Been A Long Day

Watercolor, pen/ink

“It’s been a long week
And all the lines come down heavy on me
It’s been a long week
I’m finally feeling like it’s okay to break
into a thousand pieces
no one can replace
only I can find my way”
-Rosie Golan “Been A Long Day”

I don’t normally talk about why I chose a particular song or image, but I feel compelled to add that disclaimer that while it sounds like a sad song, I found the idea that only you can find your way to be very positive.  And if you listen to the whole song, I think it’s a song about being okay.
