The thing that I love most about summer break (I taught summer school so I’m technically just starting summer break) is that if I can’t sleep I can stay up as late as I want and doodle all the fuck I want. I hear all the time “teachers have it easy” lol but we NEED these weeks off to recharge after dealing with your children. At the end of the year a kid told me “you’re just a fat white bi*** who can’t get a man.” This was a 5th grader. AND I teach in a “good” school lol. That’s just the average fifth grader these days… I love my job but I’m going to get as much therapeutic painting in as I can before school starts.

Starting a few new projects. Hamsa hand drawing, mural on pantry door, and patchwork curtains. I don’t really sew, so we’ll see how that goes lol. The wall decals on pantry door will be relocated – not part of the mural.

I did this a few weeks ago when I got on a Tori Amos kick and never got around to posting, though I can’t remember why now. I used to be obsessed with her music, I miss the love affair I once had with her lyrics… My new life mission is to listen to her again more frequently.
Text: When you gonna make up your mind / When you gonna love you as much as I do / All the white horses are still in bed.

Text: Sometimes people leave you, halfway through the wood. Do not let it grieve you, no one leaves for good.
Started listening to Fiona Apple again today and she inspired me to finish my fish. I usually want to draw happy things when I listen to Fiona Apple, so it was a good match.

I was laid up for a week with bronchitis and made some progress on my fish becusse I was going crazy with boredom. I’ve had bronchitis before but swear it’s NEVER knocked me on my ass like this. I think I’ll make it, though.
I AM slightly reevaluating my plan to colo in the fish though lol.
An artist I follow, kimberly80 on deviant art, did a wonderful warrior sketch (give credit ya’ll!). I was inspired by it and the lyrics to a Regina Spektor song.
“All you can do is try to know who your friends are as you head off to the war.”
